Whether you like relaxing cycling with your family or a fast action ride, we will gradually introduce you to great excursion tips and advice on where to go in Lower Austria.
The diverse Ybbstal cycle path combines the contrasting aspects of Lower Austria. on one side the hills along the Grape Road with picturesque villages and flowering orchards, on the other the Iron Road in the form of a rugged alpine landscape with narrow valleys, high peaks and countless artifacts of the once dominant iron industry. As part of the bike tour, we recommend stopping at the Five Elements Museum in Waidhofen an der Ybbs.
While cycling through the Piestingtal valley, there are popular bicycle stops similar to those once visited by the poet Ferdinand Raimund. the 38 km long cycle path along the small river Piesting awakens the imagination and leads from Sollenau station near Wiener Neustadt via the Markt Piesting and Pernitz to Gutenstein. Accompanied by exceptional architecture and wild romantic bays of rivers with charming wooden bridges, cycling will certainly be a great experience. the uniqueness of the route will be enhanced by the mighty Myrafälle waterfalls in Muggendorf, including an adventurous raft trip on Lake Myrateich.
In a country that used to be criss-crossed by steam locomotives and on the site of the former Waidhofen-Slavonice and Göpfritz-Raabs railway lines, cyclists can now breathe clean air without fumes. on the route along the river Dyje you will discover not only an idyllic river swimming pool suitable for the whole family, but also interesting monuments such as the majestic Raabs Castle or the remains of an old railway line.
The road is still lined with original stone milestones and the backdrop is fortified castles, historic castles and old monasteries. in addition, you can enjoy local gastronomy along the way. More sporty, they are happy to take a longer route to the Czech Republic. in the small town of Písečná there is a Jewish cemetery and a beautiful round trip to the Waldviertel region. Our tip on the route is Raabs Castle, the walled city of Waidhofen an der Thaya, as well as the Dobesberg Nature Reserve.
In a week we will take you to the Danube cycle route, to the Vienna Woods and to other beautiful places.
