Snow-covered Salzburg is perhaps even more beautiful than in the summer. the old town and the castle are on the UNESCO list and everything is all together so that you will find the most beautiful and interesting on foot.
Start at the fortress of Hohensalzburg, where you can get by the cable car. the royal chambers and the castle museum can be seen in the fort. Once you get back to the Old Town, you can explore the Salzburg Cathedral or the Franciscan Church. the real treat is a visit St. Peter's monastery with a historic cemetery, church and catacombs inside the Monk mountain.
