A Trip to Brdce

Brdce, the sixth highest peak of  the Brdy, was for some time considered as a place which would host the American missile base. However, for people visit this place seldomly, it was eliminated from the list. Nepomuk is a great place to start to Brdce. Here take Andelska orest road, then turn left to Borska forest trail. in about 1.5 kilometer you will pass Kraus' Cross, and soon you reach one of forest cabins in the Brdy – Emanuel's cabin. Both places are linked to the forest overseer Emanuel Kraus. the cross carrying My God My Consolation and the initials EK was built by Kraus in 1863. Back then a fully loaded carriage turned over here, fortunately nobody was hurt. by going down Borska trail we reach U Vojaka crossroads. it is signed with a picture on a tree. Here make a turn to the right which brings you very close to the destination. This shallow klippe separates Brdce from Hradiste. Soon turn right while going down the road. the road goes around Brdce. to get to the top, you need to get off the road.

Leave this place along the green trail and make turn to Bhaneska forest trail. it takes you to another meadov enclave of Skelna Hut and from here go down to Laz.

road covered with snow   the plains of Vysoka

If you don't feel like making a long trek, go to  the chateau near Vysoka u Pribrami. Snow covered fields between Bohutin and Vysoka has often several beaten tracks. Hence, these are not so strenous to take making them ideal for people who want easy trip to the Brdy.

Learn the trail thoroughly for there are no signs in many areas. in winter especially, take good, warm clothes. There are no cabins in the Brdy which would shelter you against a storm. If you set out from any place you start at by car, you should consider it leaving it in a village for some roads are not maintained throughout the winter. a tourist bus Pribram goes there regularly.
